Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 4PM at the Marie Spence Flickinger Fine Arts Theater – San Jacinto College South Campus, 13735 Beamer Road, Houston TX, 77089, Silambam Houston Dance Company (Houston, TX) presents Shambhavam: Dance of the Cosmos – a 30-minute Indian Classical Dance experience that explores the concepts of Shiva, Natya (dance), and Laya (rhythm). Indique Dance Company (Dallas, TX) presents Yatra: Discovery through Journey. This production explores the experiences that shape individuals through the various journeys of life. The dancers will perform an ancient Indian dance form called Bharatanatyam. Bharatanatyam originated in the temples of India two thousand years ago and it is marked by intricate rhythmic patterns, beautiful hand gestures, sculpturesque movements, and stylized facial expressions, that all come together to communicate a thought, story, or concept to the audience.
